Growing Area
The PiXieS Allotment
Out in our outstanding garden, we are proud to have our very own “PiXieS Allotment” growing area. This is a space where children are actively involved in every stage of gardening, including weeding, seeding, planting, watering and caring for a variety of fruits and vegetables.
The children are given the opportunity to watch what they have planted grow from tiny seeds through to full plants and blooms. When the fruit and vegetables are ready to be harvested, the children take great pride in picking the produce themselves and using it in cooking activities within the nursery.
Gardening at PiXieS offers children the chance to learn new skills while having fun. Through hands-on experiences, they learn about the science of growing seeds, mini beasts, the weather, their environment and the importance of healthy eating. Being outdoors encourages curiosity, creativity and exploration, and most children thoroughly enjoy digging in the soil, getting messy, creating and watching their plants grow.
