Locks Heath, – About us.
Our homely nursery is situated in Locks Heath between Fareham and Southampton and we have been established since 1996. We operate from 2 buildings next door to each other, Our larger building is the main nursery and operates from 3 rooms – Babies, 2-3’s, and preschool.
We are open Monday – Friday, 7:30 – 18:30, 51 weeks of the year except bank holidays and Christmas.
Our second building is the home to a sessional preschool which runs from 9:00 – 15:00 term time only, and our Pb’s School’s Out club where we offer wrap around care for children up to 8 years old – this service accommodates a school breakfast and after school club in which we take the children to and from our local schools. The holiday weeks become the school holiday club. This building is also used by the nursery with its dedicated children’s kitchen, sports suite, music room, messy room, sensory room and ICT suite.
We have a large garden in which it is all weather proof, the children have big tyres to climb and crawl through as well as an extensive use of bikes, trikes, scooters and movable toys. Out in the garden we have a designated growing area we call our “pixie allotment. “ The children love watching the things they have planted grow and when ready pick them. We have a designated area for our mud kitchen where the children can make mud pies and get creative. Babies and 2-3’s have their own free flow outside area in addition to the main garden.
We have a rigorous recruitment policy to ensure all staff are vetted and are suitable to work with children. Our settings are committed to ongoing training to ensure all practitioners are aware of health and safety policies and safeguarding matters. (We have a designated Safeguarding officer who is fully trained in this area.)
Kerri Weeks is our dedicated area manger who over sees the running of both nurseries. She is a long standing member of staff who started with us in 1997, and has gone through all the ranks here at pixies and is a working mummy too.
Lucy Cox our manager and Emma Orley our deputy manager are always on hand to support you, and will work with you to make yours and your child’s nursery experience personal to you. Lucy joined us at PiXieS in 2008 and is a level 5 and working towards her level 6. Emma joined us at PiXieS in 2005 and is a level 3 who too like Kerri is a working mummy.
