Growing Area
In our outstanding garden, we have our very own PiXieS Allotment growing area. Here, children take part in all aspects of gardening, including weeding, planting seeds, watering, and caring for plants, fruit and vegetables. They are given the opportunity to watch what they have planted grow from tiny seeds into full-sized plants and blooms.
When the fruit and vegetables are ready to be picked, the children harvest them themselves and use the produce in cooking activities, helping them understand where food comes from and encouraging healthy eating.
Gardening provides children with the chance to learn new skills while having fun. Through these experiences, they explore the science of growing, learn about mini-beasts, weather, and the natural environment, and develop a greater appreciation for healthy lifestyles. Many children love being outdoors — digging in the soil, getting muddy, being creative, and watching their hard work grow.
