Out in our outstanding garden we have our “PiXieS allotment” growing area. This is where the children participate in the maintenance of weeding, seeding, growing, and watering of plants, fruit and vegetables. The children get opportunities to watch what they have planted grow from seeds to full size / bloom. When vegetables and fruit are grown and ready to be “picked” the children go out, collect them up and cook with the finished product.
Children can learn new skills whilst having fun with gardening. They can learn about the science of growing seeds, mini beasts, weather, their environment, and about healthy eating in the process. Most children enjoy being outdoors and love digging in the soil, getting dirty, creating things and watching plants grow.
