A Typical Day of Activities...
The nursery opens at 08:00am , Monday to Friday. However for those parents needing an earlier start we do offer a 07:30 session at a small extra charge.
Some of the earlier children who arrive have their morning breakfast at the nursery.
On arrival, your child will be welcomed by their allocated key-worker to help them settle in. They are
encouraged
to wave good-bye to their parents so they understand that they will be picked up again later in the day.

The children soon become involved in all the activities provided. All our toys are kept permanently within easy reach for every child to choose and explore . Many of the toys are stored in clear boxes so that curious minds can see what is on offer at a glance. With the children occupied the main activities of the morning get under way. Lots of excited voices and cheeky laughter fills the nursery whilst skilled practitioners are on hand to support each child's learning.
|
We have a separate outdoor area, securely fenced and gated, so the children can play outdoors in summer and winter.
An all-weather safety surface leads to a well designed activity play house for the children, via the yellow brick road. |

|
Our challenging climbing frame includes a scramble net, slide, pole and monkey bars to help to develop the children's physical skills including balance, climbing skills, co-ordination, and control. |
Before we realise, its time for lunch. Our meals are cooked on site each day, and include a full roast dinner with potatoes and vegetables, followed by fresh fruit. The lunch menus, which change each week, are a delicious mix of home baking and children's favourites , using the best ingredients we can find.
We cook for many children, some with food allergies, and our cook does her best to accommodate for every child. It has been commented by many parents that their child would never eat our food at home because ' it's not the same as PiXieS '.
Have a look at the online PiXieS menu to see what your child enjoys.

Throughout the day, PiXieS book corner becomes a crowded area of the nursery. The children are encouraged to get books off the shelves and enjoy them.
Books play a major part in many of the activities within the nursery. The children gather around in a group and listen to stories, rhymes and poems.
During story time the children become entailed with the characters and excitement of the fairy-tale
|
Some children leave for home at the end of the morning session, while others arrive for the afternoon. For those parents needing that little extra time to get home from work, there is a late session that runs from 18:00 - 18:30. The planned activities always change from morning to afternoon for the benefit of those who stay all day.
At half past five some children go home in the minibus. The children often leave holding an assortment of paintings, drawings, models, and any other treasures from the day. We encourage parents to call into the nursery to watch what we do, to join in, or to discuss anything relevant to their child.

Once all the children have gone home for a good nights sleep, the big PiXieS ensure all areas are clean and tidy for an exciting day again tomorrow. |
